Activity Description and Intended/Target Audience:

 

Activity Description: Coding Growth Strategies is designed for any primary care healthcare professional who desires to improve their coding efficiency and compliance. The course includes elements that define Evaluation & Management coding and level 2 through 4 E&M coding requirements. For each level of service, specific elements are explained and video vignettes/case discussions showing actual patient encounters are utilized for hands-on training. Each level of service also focuses on the specifics of what documentation is required in the progress note to support that level of service. The course also discusses workflow and implementation strategies including utilizing the nursing staff effectively and integrating EMR systems into the practice.

Intended/Target Audience: Primary care physicians including emergency medicine, family medicine, general medicine and pediatrics; physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants will improve their competence and performance by being able to:

1.  Apply and integrate new and existing coding laws and guidelines in order to improve medical care in the office setting, thereby enhancing services, revenue and coding compliance.

2. Distinguish between E&M levels of service as related to the elements of Patient History, Physical Exam and Medical Decision Making.

At the end of the conference, submit your completed worksheet to the registration desk or you may mail the completed worksheet to the Office of Continuing Professional Development. You must return the worksheet as it does not constitute a certificate and cannot be used to claim credit for the conference. EVALUATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR CME #16CGS015

Online Overall Program Evaluation and Post Test:

Participants are required to attend, complete the attendance worksheet, and go online and evaluate the activity to receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. The Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) will track attendance and evaluations. Evaluations will be available for two weeks after the activity. You will be e-mailed a link to the overall evaluation. If you do not receive an e-mail within one week, please contact Susie Dealy in the office of CPD by sending an e-mail to susie-dealy@ouhsc.edu or calling (405) 271-2350, ext. 1.
